Yay! Space Commies! No, seriously, the Tau are an awesome race to play in Warhammer 40,000. They are the most technologically advanced race in the universe and their war doctrine definitely shows it. These guys shun all forms of melee combat for one simple advantage. Our guns eat yours for breakfast. Enjoy the longest average range of any weapons in the game in addition to troops that will paint targets with lasers making the guns even more accurate and devastating.

For every benefit, though, there must be a downfall. These guys suck in close combat. A whole squad of veteran Tau couldn't hope to survive in a fight with your neighbors cat, so make use of the mobility and range you've been provided.
