The story continues right where it left off, with our heroes split up, Mark and Kim imprisoned, and Driss on the hunt for the mysterious sea creature, the Mantris.
But Mr. Pad springs Mark from jail, and soon he is together with Kim, and just trying to get along, but events bigger than he is puts them back in harms way, and on the track of the Mantris yet again.
