It generates a great feeling to know that only a few simple rules, when applied to almost any function of closed form, can calculate the derivative of the function.

Unfortunately, we do not face the same situation with the integration of a function. This is the reason for having voluminous books like: I.S. Gradshteyn I.M. Ryzhik, Table of Integrals, Series Products, Academic Press.

The situation forced, as early as the 16th century, the development of algorithms for the approximation of an integral by efficient repetitive methods, what is now called numerical integration.

With this application we treat and compare four methods of numerical integration:

1. the orthogonals rule,
2. the trapezoidal rule,
3. Simpsons 1/3 rule and
4. Simpsons 3/8 rule.


The help provided on all 4 rules is thorough with all calculations, proofs and formulas both in interactive chm format as well as PDF. (Provided only in the english language).

We also included two selebrated Math Handbooks on Math Tables and Math Functions.


The application is bilingual English and Greek.

Created for teaching purposes by SH-Soft in Visual Basic 6.0 for Windows.

You need to run setup.exe for the installation of the application.
