Discover Magazine Nov 1986 - String Theory Article

Discover Magazine in November 1986 featured the article \\\"Everything\\\'s
Tied To Strings\\\" by Gary Taub which is the first popular treatment of
string theory that I am aware of. I read this magazine in the junior
high library in late 1986 when it came out, and tracked down a copy to
scan. This is an historcially significant article because it shows how
string theory was perceived at that time. (The first popular book on
string theory didn\\\'t come out until 1988, if I\\\'m right.)

This scan is in CBZ format (for comic book archives), readable by many
programs like Evince. (You can also use dedicated reader programs like
Comix.) There really isn\\\'t a good magazine archive format, and with
CBZ you can read it as a whole and also extract individual pages,
something PDF isn\\\'t good at.

I did not scan the rest of the magazine, which is not particularly
interesting. As a bonus, I have included vintage computer ads from
Apple, Tandy, and NRI Schools. (NRI is defunct now, but they were in
all the magazine with their learn-how-to-repair-computers home
education courses.)

[If you\\\'ve seen my New Mutants torrent, this magazine is contemporary
with the high-resolution New Mutants issues I scanned and Comics Scene
magazine #51.]
