The Missionary (1982)

Having spent 10 years doing missionary work in Africa and returning to England
in 1906 to get married,the Rev Charles Fortescue(Michael Palin) is called upon by the
Bishop of London to do some missionary work closer to home by saving the fallen
women of the city.
He starts by providing the women with food and a bed for the night ----quite often his own
Short of funds the wealthy but sex-starved Lady Ames(Maggie Smith) agrees to sponsor
the mission but only if in return he agrees to share her bed
